Health is Wealth. We have heard it from our father, our mother and even on television ads. I have almost ignored this in my life especially when I started working and put accumulating wealth the primary goal in my life. This was the wrong approach which I eventually learned later.

I myself had been visiting the dentists and doctors for a year now because of a sharp pain caused by a TMJ and tooth problems. I have spent thousands on medicine and tooth operations. This enlightened me how important health is and it literally affects our wealth.

Do not bring your work home. Work and home has been talked about in many time management programs and books. I have read a few books on it but did not find any that could fulfill the needs of my hectic schedule. I ended up bringing my work home and causing more stress that will later on affect my health.

Work fast and efficient. Sometimes, a person who always does overtime is just slow. Before I was an IT Manager, I used up a few moments reading and doing non-work-related stuffs. This caused me to do a bunch of overtimes that could have been prevented if only I used my time efficiently.

Overtimes gave me less time to have a social life and have a healthy lifestyle. I stopped going with friends. I stopped going to the gym and my evening meals were composed of cup noodles and canned food.

Visit your dentist. This is for prevention of problems like tooth decay and several mouth problems. With the high price of operations and medicines, this is something I really recommend. I had an operation on my teeth that cost me P 12,000. I am still scheduled for 2 operations that would cost me P 26,000 more.

I never went to a dentist for checkup until last year when I felt excruciating pain on the side of my head. It was affecting my sleep, my work and my lifestyle. At work, it caused me to be absent because I was always in the hospital visiting a doctor or a dentist. The lack of sleep caused me to feel sleepy when I was at work.

Sleep Earlier. The lack of time causing less and less sleep time. Because I couldn’t sleep, I used my sleep time for work and personal interests.

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of sleep in our daily life. Poor sleep is often related to numerous health issues. It is often believed to be the key to longer life. Lack to sleep will eventually take its toll and eventually cause you to be sick.

Eating well. I have often missed my breakfast due to waking up late and rushing to work to eat cup noodles. The main reason? I only slept 4 hours because of working.

Having breakfast is very important to start the day. Breakfast serves as our fuel to carry out the day’s activities after a long fasting (sleeping).

Remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
