Are people with great memory born or made? I definitely wasn’t born with great memory. I simply forgot the small details of projects and tasks that was given to me.
There have been some times that my boss would be angry with me about forgetting some minor details on tasks that I handled. I also had subordinates doing the same as well. “Oh, man, why do I keep forgetting things?”, I said to myself.
I found a solution after consulting with my boss. He thought me to get a planner and write stuff down. Whoa! Was it just that simple? It was.
So I got a planner and started to write things down and I started completing tasks to the last detail. I remembered everything that I had to do for the day. I could plan my weekly tasks better. Simply writing down was so beneficial to my work.
Here are a few important benefits I discovered with this system:
Finished tasks faster. Everytime I started the day, I looked into my planner and browsed all the tasks that I had to do. And the minute I got in my room, I finished task after task after task. I couldn’t wait to cancel the next task.
Clearer thinking. I discovered that everytime I did not write the task down, I struggled to remember. The reason? You have too many things on your mind. Imagine a cup with water. You couldn’t fill it up with something unless you remove some of the content. You stress yourself so that you cannot think clearly.
Improved planning. I could keep up with my tasks because it was written down. Today, I had listed most of my tasks and can plan which ones I should prioritize first.
