Is ScratchBack the Next Text Link Ads?

What’s the future of text link ads after the Google clean up?

Many are predicting the loss of value of PR. Many are predicting that Google will win and Text Link Ads will be gone forever.

I don’t know what would happen but what I do know is that there is an online “tipping” system called ScratchBack. It allows a publisher to accept “tips” and “give back” links or banners in return.

ScratchBack has been reported to be Google approved because all links or banners will be hardcoded with a nofollow tag. ScratchBack allows publishers to name their price and earn money.

Signing up is free and you can have a TopSpot widget on your website or blog. ScratchBack will be taking a small cut (10%) from each transaction. The publisher would receive 90% from each transaction. Note that ScratchBack is still in Beta and there are plans to change the final commission rate when officially released.
Is ScratchBack the Next Text Link Ads?

I don’t think so for 2 reasons:

  1. I don’t think ScratchBack can be more beneficial to Text Link Ads especially if you are looking into building links for PageRank.
  2. The nofollow attribute would make it useless for someone who wants to build links for SERPS.

I think ScratchBack is still worth a try although there are less benefits to it than Text Link Ads.
