The Power Branding Brings to Businesses

What’s in a Brand?

A boss I worked for never drank distilled water from a certain company. I don’t know how he made the conclusion, but he associated the brand with poor quality.

Just imagine that you are playing basketball and you look at someone’s shoes, you immediately recognize the brand. The nice “check” logo is a dead give-away. It’s Nike. What about when you see someone drinking an ice-cold can of cola and see the wavy white strip on red design on the can, you know it’s Coca-cola.

First time you saw the Rejoice commercial starred by Kim Chiu, a lot of teenagers wanted be just like her, have hair shiny just like hers. Rejoice wanted their customers feel like winners. To me, it was branding as its finest

However, a brand is much more than the logo, the name nor a slogan. Branding is the message, representation of what a company or organization stands for. It is often perceived through customer experience, media profile and word-of-mouth.

On the internet, the same goes with Google. The word Google was even added to the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary. Now, you can tell some to “Google” it!

The importance of a brand is not something to be underestimated. It can make or break a company. Good branding creates a healthy relationship with the customers. It is often that customers will pick their favorite brands off the shelves rather than testing new brands. However, bad branding may ruin a company.

If you’re gonna take the plunge into entrepreneurship and build business like the perfume, food stores or an educational institution, entrepreneurs should learn a thing or two about brand-building. Learn to somehow developing and reinforcing the brand as part of the marketing plan and somehow build products and services into strong brands.
