Sproose is one of hundreds of alternative search engines available on the internet today. Most of these search engines are using user-powered results. With Sproose, Google, Yahoo!, MSN and Ask search results are mathematically calculated and then websites in the results can be voted upon by users leading user-powered search results.

You only need to click on the “I like it” text below beside each result to vote. Remember that you should be a registered user to vote.
Sproose Features
User Comments
Sproose allows users to leave comments on websites for others to see. This allows user interaction between users who want to know how a website is doing. Users also determine the relevancy and usefulness of the websites to the search keyword or phrase.
Just click on the dialog cloud and type in your comment. It’s that easy!
Tell A Friend!
Yep. Sproose also lets you “tell a friend” about a certain website. Each recommendation emails users can send to a maximum of 5 email addresses.
Sproose it Up!
Since Sproose allows users to rank web pages by voting, Sproose also makes it possible for users to vote directly on your web page.
Talk about a search engine bookmarking service!
My Take
I am quite fond of these alternative search engines. Sproose has made search engine results improvement into a social network endeavor which is very good. However, the fact that it’s human-powered, makes it flawed.
There should be a strong need for monitoring and managing user’s activities (mass voting on a website). Sproose will require the relief of mistrust of users(like me) on the search engine results considering that it can be ‘modified’ by human users.
This is part of a the web applications review category. I will be doing website reviews on new and old web applications that I find useful for any internet user.
