Ever feel like a commando searching for the ‘target’ when searching online?
With all the information out there on the internet, you simply cannot find the best resource for what you really need. Unlike Quintura, which uses ‘visual’ searching to help you narrow the search engine query, Google, Yahoo and MSN hasn’t quite gone to that level yet.
Google has however formulated advanced search engine operators to help us with our search.
- Allintext: This operator allows you to search for pages that have the particular words you specify.

- Allinurl: This operator allows you to search for pages that have the particular words in the url.

- Link: This operator allows you to search for pages linking to a particular website. Below is an example of searching web pages that link to my own website.

You can exclude links from specified domains. Below is an example of excluding links from pinoytech.org

- Cache: This operator will show Google’s cache version of the web page searched.

- Related: This operator will show you web pages with similar to the specified web site or web page.

- Site: This operator will narrow your search results by including or excluding search results from a specified website.

This operator is also useful for determining the number of Google indexed pages a web site has.

- Define: This operator will show definitions of the word specified from web pages in Google index.

- Location: This handy operator works on Google news. It allows you to narrow your Google News search results by showing news from websites from a specified location. Below is an example of a search result of a technology search from websites located in the Philippines.

- Movie: A useful search engine operator if you’re a movie fan. It allows you to search movie related information. Below are a few examples.

- Weather This can be used to check the weather.

This list is by no means complete but I will continue to update it is as often as possible since Google can change these operators anytime they choose. Kindly contact me through this webmaster blog if you observe any inaccuracy with our information.

Neat!
I only knew define, site, cache and allinurl before.
Another thing, Google can be used as a calculator and currency converter. You can search 100 US Dollars to Philippine Peso and it will echo the conversion right away.
