better managementI walk around the office look at people’s faces, their sitting posture and how they do their work. It sometimes bother me when I see someone who seems to be doing because he has to. To most people a job is just a job. It’s most probably because I am one of the pioneering employees of the company who knows how hard it was to get it to this point.

I’ve always believed that when people enjoy what they are doing, they produce better. If you have employees who love the challenge of their job, employees who are inspired and employees who are eager to get involved your business will have a chance at being successful.

Inspiration is the word. Employees work harder and want to get involved when they know the relevance of their work to a much bigger project. If they can see how their work can impact other people’s lives or at least do something of importance, how what they are doing would be helpful for the company and their family’s betterment you can be sure that production would dramatically increase. It’s just like this story of two construction workers.

One was asked, “What are you doing?”.

“I am mixing this cement for use”, came the reply.

The other worker was asked the same question.

“I am part of a team of workers who are building this church for the village”, said the second.

Who do you think worked better. Let me answer that question. The latter did.

All you have to do is to let them know the relevance of their job. Let them see what you see in the future. Let them know that everything that they do will eventually help them and help the people around them. Some people will have disbelief about this but the evidence that this works is incontrovertible.

Inspire your employees and you’ll make your job a lot easier.
