Wordpress 2.5 was officially released last March 29, 2008. Although, I must admit that I didn’t know about it until I logged into my blog. Fortunately, there have been a lot of information all around the blogosphere about the release of the so called Wordpress version with the new ‘admin’ look. The good thing about this version is that it doesn’t only come with a new look but also with nice features.
Here are a few of thefeatures that have been implemented in this Wordpress version:
- Cleaner, faster, less cluttered dashboard
- Dashboard Widgets
- Multi-file upload with progress bar
- Bonus: EXIF extraction
- Search posts and pages
- Tag management (at last!)
- Password strength meter
- Few-click plugin upgrades
The only one Wordpress 2.5 feature I’ve tried was the automatic plugin upgrade
Although, I’ve heard of miscellaneous warnings about this feature, I’ve decided to give it a try. Fortunately for me, the plugin upgrade worked! But unfortunately, ShareThis still doesn’t have a version compatible for Wordpress 2.5.
I am happy with this new release by Wordpress mainly because of this fantastic plugin upgrade feature. I hope everyone upgrades as soon as possible and see the advantage of using Wordpress 2.5 and the plugin upgrade feature.

P.S. Here’s Allen’s blog post about his experience with the Wordpress 2.5 plugin upgrade.
