This is the second discussion in a book review series on The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz, which focuses on setting goals high and achieving success.
This section focuses on the benefits of believing in oneself and achieving success in life. While it is true that everyone wants to successful in life, so few people actually succeed.
Wishful Thinking
Negators would say that it is in fact impossible to move mountains with belief. However, the Bible states that belief can indeed move mountains and I believe it. There is no feat impossible for anyone. There is no unattainable achievement on earth with the power of belief.
A very obvious example David J. Schwartz made in this section are young people who have just started to work. Most young people wish that they would be top executives in big corporations. Some young people wish to have their own business. In the end, most of them end up in dead-end jobs where they still wish to become someone.
How to Develop the Power of Belief
There are three simple ways to develop the power of belief. David J Schwartz outlines them into 3 steps:
Think success don’t think failure. Thinking of success works your mind into thinking of ways to be successful. In a way you train your mind to creatively think of ways to become successful.
Remind yourself that you are better than what you think you are. Most people put themselves down. I have a friend who always think that he cannot self-train himself in a software we use. He ended up not learning anything and was forced to resign from this job. Another friend of mine self-trained on the software and is now regarded as the best graphic designer in his group.
Believe Big. Shoot for the stars! There is nothing impossible to achieve. If you want something bad enough, start working to achieve it and you’ll be surprised one day that you’ve achieved the things you thought was unattainable.
The next discussion, will cover the second section of The Magic of Thinking Big (Cure yourself of Excusitis, The Failure Disease).
